More Than 25 Years of Giving Back
We must give something back to the communities in which we live and work. This principle, part of the Raymond James mission statement, was prominently put into effect in 1997. Tragedy struck when a colleague passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind two adolescent children. Friends and coworkers felt the need to do something to honor his memory and assist his children to help ensure their futures. With this financial need and associate’s desire to make a difference in this family’s life, they joined forces to host a golf tournament and jamboree, in his honor. Following the success of these two events, and seeing the tangible impact of their work, associates involved recognized the potential for so much more. They wanted to bring the same relief and hope to other colleagues who find themselves faced with personal catastrophe. To address this need, Friends of Raymond James, Inc. was established in 2000 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2002. In almost three decades, Friends of Raymond James has done so much more than the initial group of friends could have ever imagined. With more than $2,200,000 in donations and more than 450 individuals helped, Friends of Raymond James has surpassed expectations and continues to grow. |
